Chinese Pole – just one of the skills which can be learned at Circus Central

Suitable for 8 – 16 year olds from beginners to those who already love circus.  The days will be filled with a wide range of circus activities run by a team of friendly professional circus tutors.  There are many circus skills & tricks to be learned as well as a chance to develop theatricality and stage skills. Circus helps to increase confidence by being physically active & mentally creative. There will be a chaperoned lunch break & 2 other short breaks in the day.

£160 of 1 week, £270 for 2 weeks  (2nd siblings get £30 Off/week). Places can be secured with a non-refundable deposit of £50.

We have been delivering circus club as part of the after school activities on a monday for 3 years and a second unicycle club on Wednesdays for a year. We have seen children in this time progress from these school clubs into the youth circus clubs and then on into the performing troupe as part of the excellence programme at Circus Central. They are an important part of our community at Circus Central.

We have a great range of activities for all ages on this day! We want the circus community to share their love for circus by bringing a new-to-circus friend.  Here’s whats on offer on the day! We will be very pleased to have volunteers to help out on the day – get in touch and See you there – in all your circus glory! (Do make sure clothes are suitable to train in though! )

Early Birds 9.45 – 10.45 under 6s and parents Acro and aerial session (usual fees)

Children & Family Circus Floor sessions 10 – 11am under 12s and families (Free for Young Circus Members who bring a new-to-circus friend!)£3

Sky Kids 11.15 – 12.45  7 – 12 years with at least 1 parent attending per 2 children and helping to spot (usual fees)

Youth, Club Circus Central & Community (Floor Session) 13 + and Adults  in the school Hall 11.15 – 12.45 (Free for Five Ring Circus Members who bring a new-to-circus friend!)  £3

Summer Performance Troupe Training - 1.15 – 4.15

World Circus Day Cabaret - Doors 7.30 pm and Show Time 8.00pm (A collection will be made towards the running costs of Circus Central)

Training together on Wednesdays 6 – 9pm and Saturdays 1.15 – 4.15 starting 17th April. This is an 11 Week course. (6 weeks before half term and 7 weeks after half term.)
Although there are no auditions you will be expected to already have good basic circus skills, a desire to be part of a fun experience and be prepared to commit to the troupe, work hard and attend regularly (we understand that this is exam season and will make allowances!)

Cost £10 per session or take advantage of the Summer Term Deal – £180 This gives you 22 sessions and free Air Time on Wednesdays and either a Youth Circus session or free Club Circus Central if you are over 16. This can be paid in 3 installments of £60.

June 1 and 2 – Green Festival, Newcastle – get your street acts ready for this event.
28 July – Duck Day – in Greenhead –  Acts & walkabout – Theme Wild West (with a sleep over in the village hall on the sat night 27 July)
Sky Dancer – Aerial acts get a chance to perform – some time in the first couple of weeks of the holidays
5 – 11 August UKYCN Festival in Edinburgh – Troupe will be invited to attend this event – camping and performing and learning skills with the rest of the UK youth circus community and No Fit State Circus places will be allocated to troupe first to those with acts and commitment to training this summer. (cost will be £125 for Troupe deal people (and £150 to others)

Saturday 16 March, 7 – 11.30pm at Circus Central.
Local Ceilidh legends KING COLE will be leading us on a ‘reel’ fun journey of dance and delight.
Relax between reels with alternative beats provided by international Fenham-sensation DJ J-Rod.
We got ales, whisky and food to keep your energy up.
And for ‘circus-y’ types be prepared for ceilidh vs circus challenges…their exact nature is still being devised…unicycle strip-the-willow perhaps, a partner poi square dance. A spectacle to watch and a fun challenge to participate in.
Tickets are £10 or £7 in advance and can be bought from Circus Central. Group, family & circus discounts are available…just ask!

“I went away with Albert and Friends Instant Circus to do a stilt-walking parade in Rome Frascati and London for New Year. To be honest I was quite nervous to be going into another company, because I didn’t want to feel left out or excluded from the group, as most of them already knew each other, however when I got there everyone was friendly and included you instantly. It was an amazing experience going to another country to stilt-walk, and I now have loads of new friends both internationally and from all over the UK. The trip has inspired me to keep going with my circus career and the experience taught me if you put effort in learning how to do something, then you can get brilliant opportunities out of it. It was good knowing where circus can take you, and from this I am going to apply for next year and develop my skills further. If I hadn’t started going to North Tyneside youth Circus I wouldn’t have been able to have this opportunity. Going to this club has changed my life and inspired me to continue doing what I enjoy.”
